Plex-Server is currently unavailable

No matter what PC I load Windows Plex Server it can never find my Plex Server with my files.

Plex-Server is currently unavailable

Any suggestions?

You need to give way more details than that.

What is it in this case?
What client are you using?

Ok, so I have tried to install Plex Server on 2 different PCs as I thought the 1st PC maybe had conflicting software. Both PCs are Windows 10.
Both PLEX Server software installs are version 1.2.1.0.3711-b509cc236-x86

Plex opens but my own PLEX server with all my folders gives an error.

Are you trying from the same PC that PMS is installed on?
http://[PMS IP]:32400

Yes I am but I also tried on My Nvidia Shield + TV and get the same error…

What is this…? http://[PMS IP]:32400

I use this to launch

To claim and do a first time setup use the local ip address of the server machine http://(local_ip):32400 .

well that did not work

Do you know the IP address of your server? Usually something like: 192.168.x.x

You could also try http://127.0.0.1:32400

Yes the IP address of the PC with the Plex Server installed on it…not the Router IP but the PC IP

It says “The Site can’t be reached”

I have had Plex for years…It no longer lets me see “my” Plex Server. I will uninstall Plex off the PC and try again…doubt that will work…but will try

This is still confusing.

Are you trying to install a second server?
Are you installing Plex Player for Windows?

Dan,
I bought a new Router months ago with a 10gbe port. Net gear Nighthawk R9000 X10 that is advertised as a Plex Server. So I moved my HD(s) externally to the Router to use it as a Plex Server. This way the router is on all the time with Plex available and not my PC.

On a different note …
You People at Plex really should set a Minimum standard for the Plex Users with Terrabites of files. Any company out there can claim they have Plex built in there hardware…but never say it will run like crap. That router ran Plex Server but so poorly, totally unacceptable as a Plex Server. The Worst with buffering and stalling. Made me think of 1992 when you had to wait for Google to display the next screen when you paged down. Knowing what I know now I will build a High End PC to run my Plex Server for years to come…and leave it on full time.

So I removed it from the router and placed Plex Server back on my PC. Since then, about a month now I have not been able to access my Plex Server. I reinstall everything and it works…then at night when I turn off my PC and then in the morning restart my PC it is not available. Even if I decide to leave the PC on it does updates and reboots.

I click Home and More and I get that error.
I recently tried it on a different PC and it did the same thing…just this morning I uninstalled and reinstalled it again and called it a Different Name…ie WC Plex Server and it actually works.

I restarted the PC and it is all there !!

So it seems there was a glitch with just using the same name I had … Plex Server…not sure why but I am just glad it works now.

Thanks for all your help.
Will

I’m happy you found a solution.
Plex Server will technically run on a lot of devices that are very annoying to actually use. I have an old QNAP NAS that would run Plex Server but you couldn’t use it as it was so slow. Raspberry Pi’s will run it.
A lot depends on how much transcoding has to be done. With no transcoding these low powered devices aren’t too bad.
