A while ago I signed up for Plex and it wouldn’t work at all. Later I found out it was because I was connecting my PC to the internet through phone tethering/network sharing. So I got a router for my PC and it started working flawlessly. I used it for weeks. Then one day it stopped working. Completely. I hadn’t changed a single thing, no settings, nothing. I logged into my computer one night and it was fine. I went to bed and logged in again the next day and Plex didn’t want to use the media server I installed. It was the latest version. I can’t remember why right now but it had something to do with secure connections. After a while of troubleshooting and using the steps provided by Plex ‘helpful’ troubleshooting tips, instead of getting anywhere closer to the solution, Plex stopped recognising the server full stop so that it now reads “Looking for servers” indefinitely. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the correct and newest versions of the Plex Media Server over and over again. The Windows app certainly recognises the media server as it shows me the movies and shows I have, except a few I think, though when I click on something to watch it goes to black and I can’t do anything else. I read somewhere to click on the red X in Authorised Devices > Servers > [my server] and to then reinstall it, but once I did it never came back. I deleted my Plex account, made a new one with a different email, and configured it the way I did initially. Nothing. There are no server or connection settings on the browser as it can’t even find the server I have installed.
My account is signed in and connected properly, I am running the current version of the Plex Media Server, I have no VPN running nor did I ever on this PC. If it’s a ‘proxy’ or ‘plugin’ thing, I’m not too familiar with how they work, so if it’s one of those, please respond like you’re talking to a five year old. Spare no expense. I’m just so sick of this cluster f*** Plex has planted on me out of the blue and I’d like to go back to watching the stuff on my hard drive in peace.
