Can't finish setup for server running on Ubuntu 19.04

Trying to setup a server on Ubuntu 19.04 Server and using my laptop (running Windows 10) on the same network to complete the server setup. All server software downloads, installs, and runs with now errors. Even created the folders for movies and series, along with transferring ownership. I can connect using the server’s ip and it loads the Plex app. However, it doesn’t prompt me to setup the server. I’m really at a loss because everything I’ve dug up from googling has been a dead end.

Am I missing a step or what can I do to fix this?

what are the IP address ranges in use?

They do need to be in these ranges:

  1. 192.168.x.x
  2. 172.16.x.x -> 172.31.x.x
  3. 10.x.x.x

This is known as RFC-1918 “Private Network” space and how Plex is configured for local lan.

The network runs on a 192.150.1.x range. So I would need to reconfigure this to be in a 192.168.x.x range in order to perform setup?

Your alternative is to use SSH tunneling to access it for both Setup and each time the server (occasionally) loses it’s authentication with Plex.tv

It’s configured this way because RFC-1918 IP addresses can’t be public (not routed), so those are known safe on a home lan.

On another network is the info you want.
This is because your LAN doesn’t comply with the RFC for normal home LANs.

Most routers are configured to RFC-1918 by default.

Finally got it. Thank you so much for the help!
