Can't get back in to my server

I changed my password and was locked out. Like anybody, I was somewhat pissed. So, I googled the issue and followed these instructions: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

It didn’t work. I was still locked out. Somehow I managed to remove the server, thinking that it would be auto-added if I restarted it with systemctl. Wrong again. I deleted Preferences.xml and restarted. Didn’t work. I deleted EVERY SINGLE FILE AND FOLDER that had “plexmediaserver” in it, uninstalled plexmediaserver and reinstalled. STILL doesn’t work, no soup (on local network btw). I’m highly annoyed and will likely not be purchasing another month on my Plex Pass at this rate. This password changing nonsense has been acknowledged but isn’t even in the process of being improved.

Somebody help, please. I have many users I shared the server with waiting for it to be fixed. I told them I’d fix it, but lo and behold, here I am stuck with this. I’m considering moving everyone to Jellyfin.

If you sign out all devices during a password reset this applies to all your devices — including the server.
To link the server with your account, you’ll need to access it using the bundled version of Plex Web:

  1. open http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web
    • if you’re doing this from the same machine, you can also use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web instead
    • if you’re on a different network (e.g. if the PMS is running on a hosted machine) you’ll need to establish a local connection first (e.g. via a SSH tunnel)
  2. go to Settings > [Server Name] > General
  3. sign the server in with your Plex Account
