Locked out of server and the settings

Hello,

Today, I changed my password via app.plex.tv. Afterwards, I logged back into my account and now my server has gone. I have tried using this guide below:

Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support

However, despite following the instructions nothing happens, specifically, when entering 127.0.0.1:3244/web & localhost:32400/web. The web browser returns with ‘refused to connect’.

Just wondering if anyone could advise on best course of action from here?

Thank you for your help.

There’s usually no need to go through the “I locked myself out” procedure if you changed your password and can no longer access your server. This tends to go along with checking the option to sign-out all devices… which includes your server. So in that case, reclaiming your server should do the trick just fine.

The IPs you’ve been trying to use refer to the local machine on which you’re working.
In order to reclaim your Plex Media Server hosted on a Synology NAS, you need to use the Synology NAS’ IP address instead:
http://[Syno IP]:32400/web

There, go to Settings > [Server Name] > General and click the Sign In button on that setting page.

Sidenote:
If you’re using a server installed on your desktop/laptop, the address is http://127.0.0.1:32400/web (not :3244).

If you have applied the “I’m locked out” procedure on the Synology, you should be able to access the PMS just the same (using the Syno’s local IP address from within the same subnet).

Thank you for your response @tom80H really appreciate it.

I managed to figure it out, for some reason I still have the old plex filesystem. I assume from DSM 6 to 7 and migrated plex accordingly. I was changing the preferences.xml file in the old plex files as appose to the new ones. :man_facepalming: After, i changed the preferences.xml file in the new plex folders, i tried my normal IP, and it popped up allowing me to reclaim the server immediately. Hope I’ve explained that right , Just glad to be back in tbh.

Do you know whether or not I can delete the old files?
