Can't get local media asset to appear for music artist

So just this weekend I discovered that Plex now supports new music metadata agents that work on FreeBSD. Having previously written it off as something I wouldn’t bother with, I’m now on a crusade to rip all my hundreds of CDs into FLACs onto my FreeNAS server.

Although it’s not something I’ll normally be doing, I do have one artist that I want to add a custom “local media asset” video. I feel like I’ve done everything correctly:

  • Video is a .webm file and codec is VP9, which should be supported
  • In Agents -> Artists -> Personal Media Artists, I have “Local Media Assets (Artists)” checked and moved to first place.
  • In the settings for “Local Media Assets (Artists)” I have the folder set to /media/MusicVideos
  • /media/MusicVideos exists and has the same ownership and permissions as other working libraries
  • under /media/MusicVideos I have a subfolder named as the artist exactly the same as the artist folder under /media/music (I copied and pasted to be sure). This folder contains the .webm video
  • the .webm video is named description-concert.webm (although from what I can tell, regardless of what I name it, it should appear)

I’ve tried re-scans and metadata refreshes and everything else I could think of but I can’t get the video to appear when I go into the artist under the Music library. What could I be missing? The only thing I couldn’t figure out how to do was to scan the /media/MusicVideos folder for new content… I would assume that when you go into a library and choose “scan library files”, it’s only scanning /media/Music which doesn’t include /media/MusicVideos
