Latest plex running on Linux server, latest plex running on windows 10 (both Browser and Metro based behave the same).
It appears that Plex is not picking up media information imbedded in mp3 files - or, its choosing another source first. I’ve moved Local Media Assets to the top in Settings>Agents>Artists and in Settings>Agents>Albums.
I believe the problem is in the path defined in the local media assets (artists) used for the server. Click the gear icon for Local Media Assets (Music) and it opens a window to configure the path. When configuring a server not running on the local machine, how is the path defined? Standard SMB? (Assuming there is a share defined as “music”, i.e. //HunterNAS/music or should it be the Server IP/share? //192.168.1.100/music) or something else?
Something else I’ve noticed is that when you click the gear icon, regardless of the Agent category (Movies, Shows, Artists, Albums or Photos), when you click the gear icon for Local Media Assets, it shows the following. Note I clicked the gear icon for Local Media Assets (Artists), but the field name is “Local Music Video Path”. Regardless of which Local Media Assets I choose (Movie), (Shows), (Artists), Albums) or (Photos), it displays the same heading. Bug?

that path is only if you are using that method to use music videos. it is not for adding your actual music files ( mp3s and such ). if you don’t have music videos you can just leave it blank
if you add some a new album or other music do you see any changes in the Local Media Assets logs?
Yes, I understand about the path. However, if you look at the picture again, note the red arrows. The field name “Local Music Video Path” and the settings title “Local Media Assets (ARTISTS) Setting” are talking about two different thing. Music Videos and Artists…two different topics…?
The “local music video path” would be a legit settings for a music “Local Media Asset” agent, so I don’t see them as being separate topics. Scroll down to “Configure Local Media Assets Agent” in the following support article.

Yeah, the text is a little misleading. But BigWheel is correct. That field is for pointing to music videos. If you click the settings for Album, you’ll see the same field.
What you really want is to edit your music library, then go to the advanced tab, there is a check box for “use embedded tags”, make sure this is enabled. I would suggest refreshing 1 artist first to make sure it is working, then refresh the entire library.
Yep, I read about that. Its always been enabled… Other thoughts?

Ok, seeing you are using last.fm. Can you update 1 artist where you know there are tags then provide the lastfm.log from the plugin logs folder?
After some thought, I believe this issue is related to the naming structure of my files. Going to modify all the naming conventions to match Plex Best Practices. Hoping that is the issue…
