I had it set up to record the series (new and repeat), include partial airings, any channel, any time. It originally showed all the airing times in the recording schedule and it recorded it this afternoon, however now it doesn’t show the episode that it was supposed to record tonight under the recording schedule. Also had same issue with olympics last night prime time. I can watch the episode from my plex chrome browser, time shift from my browser, but I can’t get it to record it. I can click on any other program (news, curious george, etc) and get those to record, but I can’t get it to record the olympics. I’ve tried canceling all scheduled recording and recording just this single episode (not the season), still with no success. Does anybody have any suggestions?
I have the exact same issue as described above. Did all the same things (no restrictions on recording, record only the one program without the series, can also record nearly any other show without a problem). I notice when I’m recording other shows that the file is adding to the .grab folder, but not when I’m recording the Olympics that are not showing up on the Recording Schedule. I also saw the same topic posted by someone else on reddit.
I was originally hoping/planning to capture all the recordings but have been losing a number of these now because of this issue. Help!
I have the same problem. This is VERY frustrating, especially seeing as Plex has yet to allow manual recording. PLEASE PLEASE fix this!!! If you can’t fix this, PLEASE PLEASE let me manually schedule a recording!!!
Running Plex Version 1.10.1.4602 for Ubuntu 16.04, with Hauppauge WinTV DualHD.
I just found a workaround: The later showings of the day disappear from the recording schedule as soon as the first is recorded. As soon as I moved the episodes out of the destination library, the later recordings showed back up.
Workaround 1: Record each showing per day into separate libraries. For example: record the afternoon airings into an “Olympics Afternoon” library, primetime airings into an “Olympics Primetime” library, etc.
Workaround 2: Immediately move recordings from one library to another before the next airing starts. (The downside to this is you lose most of the metadata.)
I guess for some reason, Plex thinks that all airings of the Olympics on one day count as the same “episode”. Again, PLEASE PLEASE fix this or let us manually schedule recordings.
I’m also experiencing this. A real bummer.
Just updated to plexmediaserver_1.11.2.4772 to see if that helps.
After updating and restarting, it already seems to be picking up one episode after the other. Not sure if the problem is fixed or it’s a fluke.

Thanks drinkdhmo, I’m trying your first work around tomorrow! A bit of a pain setting up Afternoon, Evening, and Night libraries, plus I’ll have to help the wife navigate through the different libraries now. But she’ll be happy as long as there are hours and hours of Olympics to watch.
Plex is also ruining the Olympics for me. I thought this Live TV & DVR stuff was out of beta. I’m missing half of the Olympics so far. Take Sunday 2/11/2018 for example. Plex guide says the Olympics are from 2-5pm. Totally misses 6-9:30 and 10:30-3AM. What the heck! How do I record this stuff? If I buy the HDHomerun Guide will that do anything for me?
Thanks Drinkdhmo for the work around, I just set up separate libraries and record folders, we’ll see how it works. If Plex is recognizing them as repeat airings, then the feature to record ‘New and Repeat’ episodes does not work.
I’ve never tried it other than this so wouldn’t have a basis for comparison. Fingers crossed it works tonight.
I’m having this issue as well. I deleted the series recording and trying drinkdhmo workaround, which seems to be working. Does this mean I’m going to have to record every show manually? I agree with drbean2001. Although I’m only having issues with the Olympics, other series are recording fine with “new and repeat” on.

This is what I’m seeing as well. Right now if I look at tomorrow on the calendar view I’ll see 10 different recordings scheduled, the first one starts at 1:00 AM. Tomorrow morning when I wake up I’ll see the recording from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM recorded successfully, but then the other 9 recordings won’t show up. For some reason after that first recording of the day, it views the other recordings as the same episode.
Canceling the series recording and rescheduling doesn’t work. Trying to manually schedule recordings later that day after the first successful recording doesn’t work.

Can you confirm this update fixes this problem?

I’ll be able to tell you after my next showing of the day airs. Should be just after 5pm Pacific.
UPDATE: It appears to be working for me now. 1.11.2.4772 (beta channel)
yep. same issue… the most frustrating part to me is that it’ll fail halfway through the recording, lose the record, and when I try to launch it as live TV, the wheel just spins. It’s not only a scheduling conflict on my end, but a critical failure as well. so I’m losing it all. and for whatever reason it seems to happen every time anything good is about to happen…
did I get to see the finals of the men’s slopestyle? NOPE!! missed Red Gerard’s gold medal win
did I get to see Maame Biney skate? NOPE!! recording crapped out and was unrecoverable
did I get to see what happened on the last run of the women’s luge when USA was nipping at Germany’s heels? NOPE!! I still don’t even know the results
the biggest event of the year to tout our cord-cutting and plex dropped the ball completely. I’m super ticked
I have the same issue. Posting here so I can see if there are updates.
I just switched from Public to Beta channel, and the recording schedule now shows all episodes of the Olympics for the day. Here’s hoping it records at 7pm.
I was able to get the recordings to show up for 8pm and other missing times by moving the Olympics higher in priority. It didn’t have any conflicts, but all the shows are now visible on the recording schedule. Hopefully it will record.
The workaround proposed by drinkdhmo did not work for me this afternoon. When I first posted I was running 1.10… I have been running 1.11.2.4772 since last night. The update does not seem to help.
I just changed to plex offical docker app. But after looking through the forums, I just realized I’m not seeing the overnight programing and I just confirmed with tvguide.com there are programs in my area for overnight.
Recording is totally unreliable in Plex. I got a few shows to record, but right now none of my shows are recording and no reason given. The error reporting in Plex sucks. I’m on beta. Windows 10 / i5 / 16GB
yea I wanted to watch the opening ceremony as a single show and it failed. I then tried to manually record something from the olympics a few days later and it too failed. I can record TV shows but apparently Plex does not want us to record the Olympics.
PS i forgot to mention I got a transcoding error (that exactly what it said) when i tried to manually record the olympics, but was able to manually record a (non-olympic) show (with no errors) after that.
I have the same issue with all of my scheduled recordings after the first one finishes disappearing. I moved the Olympics folder out of the library into a backup folder, and the remaining scheduled episodes for the day re-appeared, and the currently showing episode automatically started recording. So yes, Plex thinks that all the episodes for the same day are identical. Must be missing some metadata it needs.
