Remote access and Alexa skill issue

Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#: Echo devices don’t show one

This is a thread started at the request of @anon18523487
It is spawned from this thread (topic 723300) relating to getting the Alexa Plex skill to play music. Thought to be a remote access issue.

As requested, here are my server logs.
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-06-28_23-00-55.zip (3.9 MB)

What does the remote access summary say in your setup ? Is there a green tock next to Remote Access?

Thanks ade

No tick, and the remote access page says “Not available outside your network”. But what is odd to me is that I can still access Plex remotely from a browser and the IOS app.

I used to be able get Alexa to “Open Plex” and to say that it would play what I asked it to (but it didn’t play anything - that was the thread I originally raised) but today Alexa is just reporting that remote access is not available. Well, at least that’s consistent with what the Plex server says.

I have plex set to use 21040 as the public port and my router it set to forward port 21040 to port 32400 on my server as per the troubleshooting guides.

Oh??? Now Plex is reporting “fully accessible outside your network”, green tick 'n all.

Alexa is back to connecting to Plex again, but still doesn’t actually play anything

So then yours is sounding like a similar issue to mine then. My remote access is fine too.

There’s just no stream coming out

I’m hoping someone can help with it

Any thoughts on this yet @anon18523487 ?

I will mention again (said previously in the original thread) that this problem also applies to a local Echo device.

Sorry, lost track of this thread. Looking at your logs I’m seeing your PMS report multiple different local IP addresses. You’re also running in a docker and maybe a vlan? These are outside of my expertise but there is something going on where there are multiple routes to your server and they don’t appear to be working properly.

Hi @MovieFan.Plex. Yeah, dockers and vlans are stretching my expertise too. I’m running PMS on a QNAP server, not in any sort virtual machine or container. QNAP is configured with a Virtual Switch (=vlan?).

What sort of IP addresses are you seeing? 10.x.x.x or 192.x… or?
