I am attempting to setup Plex on two Echo Show 8’s and two Echo Dot’s second gen. I connected through the Alexa app with no difficulties, and likewise Plex connects through my Fire TV Cube and my Fire Stick with no troubles. However, when I attempt to play music through my Echo Show’s or the Dot’s it tells me that the server is online but that Remote Access is not available.
I have attempted to disable the skill and reenable a few times
My Remote Access is confirmed to be online (fully accessible outside your network), and works on other devices, both Alexa and non-Alexa. I just can’t seem to get it to work on the Echo devices.
We you able to play at a high bitrate or were you limited to 1 Mbps? Plex has a feature called Relay which will help with your remote connection, but this doesn’t work with Alexa. That 1 Mbps limit would indicate Relay is working so remote access is not working and why Alexa doesn’t work.
Ok, restart PMS, wait 3 minutes without doing anything. Tell your Echo “Open Plex”. You should get the startup wizard. If not, you can stop here and grab the PMS logs. Otherwise complete the wizard then try playing something. If it fails to play, get the logs now. Let me know what happened and post your log and I’ll take a look.
