Plex OK on Windows, Smart TV and Android but not Alexa

I have set up Plex on my Paspberry Pi running OpenMediaVault 6 and I am now able to stream music to my Windows computer, Firestick 4K and my Android phones but it will not work using the Plex Skill for Alexa.

I have received an email stating that the Plex Skill is active, Alexa acknowledges that Plex is active and that I have one Plex server on the net. However I cannot get Alexa to play my music. All I get is “uh oh! something went wrong I will notify the team”.

I can see that this is a common problem, possibly with the older Amazon Dot devices. Can anyone offer me advice on how to proceed.

Do you have remote access enabled and working properly? That is required for Alexa to work even within your own home network.

Yes, I have set remote access.

I get full access to Plex uding my Windows 11 computers, my android devices and my smart TV

If so, change that to either of the top two. Excluding a library from search results prevents Alexa from finding the library content, which might cause the “Uh oh, an issue” message.

Sorry I forgot to add this.

I have fully removed Plex from my devices, including the Raspberry Pi server and then reinstalled everything. I only just finished the process and my first arrempt to use Alexa, last night, seemed to be sucessful.

So I am rather hopeful.
