Hi, this is my first post. I really need some help.
I cannot add to the libraries and when I try to add a folder with a few movies I get a message “your change could not be saved.”
There is one folder in the libraries. I think this is the folder for all the media files on my computer however when I try to play any of these files I get a message “sorry there was a problem playing this item”
I also get a message "there was an unexpected error loading this library visit the forums.
After five plus hours straight it’s very frustrating as I can’t play a single file on my computer let alone a device to stream.
Could someone make some suggestions I’m completely stumped?
Please explain how you have Plex Server set up - what OS does it run on, where is the media located, have you put the database on a network share instead of the local computer…list everything you’ve done so far.

I’m running a Mac with latest software. I have media spread out in various place across my computer and external hard drives connected to the computer. I placed a few movies in the ‘movies’ file on the Mac however still can’t add a link to these this folder in plex.
I can access the Plex media server on an iPad however can’t play anything.
Also I don’t remember seeing a setup wizard perhaps this is the problem?
Plex has scanned my computer and external hard drives, some of the files it has created up to eight thumbnails of the films artwork. I cannot play any of these files.
Where exactly do you have your files located? If it’s in an area that the Plex Server can’t access, it won’t play. Have you tried, as a test, to create a directory somewhere in your profile area (sorry, I’m not overly familiar with OSX file structure), added media to it (that has been named exactly as the Plex naming convention requires), then added that directory to the library (the movie library as an example)?
…well, I just tried to make ‘test’ folders one with a few MP3s and another with a few movie files. I’ve placed these folders in different locations on my computer such desktop and movies, music and I still can’t add anything to the library in plex. I still get this message :
Your changes could not be saved
I wish it was more specific as to why I can’t add files to plex, essentially not being able to use the program. It’s very frustrating, I did spend allot of money for this and spent six hours now with no results.
Please understand kegobeer this slight rant is not directed at you, I appreciate your troubleshooting suggestions.
I havnt found a link to support directly for plex yearly pass. Is there technically support for this product or does plex simply rely on the general public, I fear the latter with error messages such as this :
