Plex has been working fine for me for months, however as of today after I updated my distribution, I can no longer access my library (in apps or through the browser) or get to the main server page in my web browser. I checked systemctl and it says it’s running fine with no errors. I also checked netstat for port 32400 and it only has plex media server listed. I also tried reinstalling Plex Media Server but still no effect. I’m not sure how to go from here, any and all advice would be helpful.
Best to get the server logs - may be it is signed in to a different plex.tv account.
If you had not disabled debug logging on the server, then just look for the Logs directory and copy it out and zip and attach
See this support article for location of the logs
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files
If you had disabled debug logging then would need to enable it by editing Preferences.xml to change logDebug from 0 to 1 and restart the server and trying to connect to it
Try to connect to the local IP of the server eg http://192.168.xx.xx:32400/web and then get the logs if it does not work
I have the logs and have attached them here. I looked at my syslog and the only error that I seemed to find was error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle) 6 ubuntu. I tried to reset the system and framework bundles but they weren’t in my Plug-ins folder. I also checked if port 32400 is still being forwarded outside and it is not anymore (It was fine before), however port 80 and 443 are being forwarded just fine outside my network. I still could not get in directly via 192.168.x.x:32400, but I could access it via plex.tv/web indirectly.

Looks like the network interface is not being detected till later and DNS lookup failures till after that
No LAN interface seen at this time

After this you should have been able to connect to the server
directly through http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
or through http://192.168.1.8:32400/web but would need to amend plex web settings to allow fallback to insecure connection
With regards to reset bundles - that corrupts the installed software. Resetting bundles was only for old versions of Plex Media Server - before 0.9.12.5 - the support articles do have a note to say that
Please re-install Plex Media Server as removing any bundles would corrupt the installation
Unrelated to the network issues, the logs show these errors that you need to look into

I had a similar issue when I installed the latest release v1.9.4.4325-1bf240a65 (couple of days ago), after Plex had been working fine for a couple of years. I decided to restart the server to ensure full and clean resources / memory. But then like grregis observed, media and server admin on Plex suddenly stopped being accessible even though the plexmediaserver daemon was running. I was able to reach the login, but after logging in, the web browser reported that my server couldn’t be reached. Note I too am running Ubuntu 16.04
I followed sa2000’s advice and connected directly to my plex server via http://192.168.xx.xx:32400/web and was surprised that I told that i had a new plexmediaserver and needed to log in with my plex.tv login. I did so, then just clicked thru all the [Next>>] buttons until no more prompts. Then voila, my plex server was back to normal. I was able to successfully access my plex server and see all my old content once again going thru my firewall like it had been working for years.
Very odd. With all the digital media I have collected over the years, it’s a little scary when suddenly for no reason you can’t access it. At first I worried it was a hard drive failure, but I quickly ruled that out. And there were no recent changes to my firewall, so the only thing I can conclude is that it must have been the new release of plex s/w that I installed in the last couple of days. Could there have been some regression introduced in the very latest release? Perhaps with the way that a plex server interacts with or authenticates with plex.tv? I’ve never experienced this kind of thing before and don’t want to in the future.

There have been changes for authentication with introduction of options to sign in through google / facebook
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/115001686534-Use-Your-Google-or-Facebook-Account-with-Plex
But this should not have a bearing on this
I can see two servers on your plex.tv account - both named plex2server
One one was created 10 hours ago. This would arise if it lost the Preferences.xml
which would be here /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/
Are there any installation log files from time when you installed the new version?
Sorry for not getting back, but I’ve been busy and haven’t had much time to look into this. I can get into the server if I log into 192.168.x.x from the actual computer, but that is a headless server (with xfce4 for VNC) and not much use for playback. I still cannot access it from any other computers on my network nor from any of the plex apps (sometimes I get an indirect connection after awhile in the apps). Same thing with plex.tv/web. I seem to have the same issue with services such as webmin, I can access it from the server directly but not from other computers on the network. Samba also is not working, I can see my shares but when I try to connect it says they cannot locate them. I’m sure my DNS settings are messed up, but I’m not sure how to fix them. Any suggestion? Let me know if you need any log or other files from my computer.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Some how my settings for ufw were changed. I’ve added the port and it’s working fine now.
Try https://192.162.x.x:32400 if you have preferred secure connection, That “s” in https:// is what I didn’t realize I had set in Server>Network>Secure connections>Required
