I just updated Plex and now I get “Plex is not reachable.
Make sure your server has an internet connection and any firewalls or other programs are set to allow access.” It was working fine until I did the update. I verified that Plex is allowed via the Firewall and have rebooted the computer but still not reachable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What are you trying to connect from?
Got the same problem. And i am trying to connect from the same server, that has the Plex Media Server installed.

I can’t connect from Firefox. I am able to connect from my Roku and iPad but not a browser. It’s been no problem for years until this last update.

I get the exact same screen when I attempt to connect to Plex via Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Please restart the server and when you get this problem, take a screenshot as before and upload together with the Plex Media Server.log - but please get a full screenshot and not cropped so that the time is visible
See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files
Does Plex Media Server.exe show up in Windows Task Manager when you get the error?
Yes it shows.

I’ve restarted the server and re-booted the computer when the problem first occurred but it made no difference. I tried the web app again just now and it works. Nothing was changed and I have no idea why. The log file is attached as requested.

Do you have a log file for when it did not work? No log was attached
I just downgrade Plex Server. And work. Before i downgrade i went to the network auth list and added my network and my ip, and nothing…

I presume from reading your other topics here and here that this was due to internet being disconnected and there were no cached credentials for the web client to use for accessing the server. For first web client sign-in for specific browser and url, it is necessary to authenticate with plex.tv web site. After that the information is stored in the browser’s local storage (depends on browser settings).
This support page documents when internet access is needed: Internet and Network Requirements
Mine was working fine as well until I updated, my server is on an Nvidia shield… Now what??
Getting same problem here. “Plex is not reachable. Make sure your server has an internet connection and any firewalls or other programs are set to allow access.”
This is on http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html and it’s obviously reachable otherwise how’s it responding back with that message? Or does it need an outside Internet connection for some reason (my Internet is fine currently though did have a week long outage recently due to BT digging up the road outside and cutting off my phone line / net again)? Regardless, other Internet apps are working and I’ve not touched anything on my router / firewalls.
Just found the log file and tried it again. Complete log is too large to put here but I’ve included the log entries written as a result of my most recent attempt.
So I go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html and get get asked to select a user, so I click my only account, Dave4242, then get the “Plex is not reachable” message. The log entries are below…

In the browser plex web app that runs when you go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web - there is a drop down top right corner of the screen where you can sign the session to. It needs to be the same plex.tv account as the server one to get access to the server. I am assuming your server is signed in to dave4242 - but can confirm this if you attach (not paste) a full log file covering time when server was launched.
I can actually see the server linked to the dave4242 account with last contact with plex.tv being 2 hours ago. So just make sure the plex web client app session is also signed in to dave4242
I notice the server info says it is on version 1.3.4. Please update to the current version - available from https://plex.tv/downloads as the minimum supported version is now 1.5.x
See http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/268072/plex-media-server-1-5-1-and-plex-media-player-1-2-4-or-newer-are-mandatory-updates
Thanks for your response. Yeah the server will have been signed in as dave4242.
I don’t tend to reboot the box I have running Plex very often as I have a lot of other things running on it meaning it takes several hours to restart everything. Plus I use the PmsService to run Plex as a background service which complicates the updating procedure a bit.
A full restart of the server and running it normally (outside of PmsService) didn’t resolve the problem. As I couldn’t get to the web interface to do the update in the normal way, I went to http://plex.tv/downloads, which didn’t seem to want to work on the server itself (probably related to IE enhanced security config, it’s running on Win Server 2008 R2), so downloaded the update on another computer and copied it across.
The update seemed to go on okay but I’m still getting the same problem, after clicking my username it’s saying Plex not reachable.
Log from C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Logs\Plex Media Server.log attached.
Actually - problem resolved at least for now. Just noticed it’s now working from other machines on my network, just not from the server itself. Yesterday I was getting the not reachable message both on the local machine and when trying to access it from others. Now it’s only happening on the server itself. The log is in my previous post if it’s of any interest to you but I’m happy my problem’s been resolved.

I actually use PmsService (it is now called PlexService - old versions had it named PmsService). I always update it manually. Using the Plex Service Tray App to Stop Plex, then download from https://plex.tv/downloads and install the update. For me because I use different account for the service from the admin account I run the install in, I also do a regedit for the current user to stop Plex Media Server.exe auto launching outside the service. If you use the same windows account for install and the service then the Plex Service code should automatically stop it auto launching outside the service
As you say the service is now running, it could be the locked down internet explorer enhanced security which i believe is default on windows servers. Or could be enhanced protected mode or a security program.
With such failures, it is always important to know exactly when and screenshot with timestamp and url would help. In the log I can see error 401’s but I can also see successful requests - but as I do not have all the log files, I cannot tell if the successful ones were internal or your attempt to access the server
We had these 401 errors at 15:52

It is possible these were internal requests from the com.plexapp.system process - not sure.
You could tidy up a bit by removing redundant bundles - one is corrupt anyway
May 14, 2017 15:51:41.341 [4240] WARN - Couldn't determine bundle identifier for plug-in at: C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebClient.bundle
May 14, 2017 15:52:23.306 [6600] DEBUG - Starting plug-in C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\SiteConfigurations.bundle.
May 14, 2017 15:52:23.318 [6600] DEBUG - Starting plug-in C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebManager.bundle.
So suggest whilst Plex Media Server is exited, you delete these obsolete bundles
C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebClient.bundle
C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\SiteConfigurations.bundle.
C:\Users\Mediacenter\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebManager.bundle.
The WebClient.bundle that is used is now located within
C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-4955e31cf\WebClient.bundle
You could try to sign out the web client app session and sign in - so top right corner, open the sign in / account drop down and sign out and then sign in to dave4242
My Plex started showing this error message (“Plex is not reachable”) on Firefox, but would still work from the XBox.
The new plexmediaserver pulls scripts from my server, plex.direct, gstatic.com, plex.tv and 127.0.0.1. The last one is invalid (no server on my localhost), and Firefox was blocking scripts that didn’t come from my server. Allowing those scripts through fixed the problem.
Hope this helps.
