Can't login after changing password

Longtime plex user and I completely forgot my password, I changed it through a generated link and now I can’t login.
Can’t login through plex.tv or from the PMS, or a plex client.
error from web login is: “Sign in has been temporarily disabled: too many failed attempts. Please try again later.”
And I’ve waited and waited but still doesn’t work.

Trying to login via my iPhone app, gives an API rate exceeded error.

help - my system of many years is suddenly inaccessible. Tried changing the password a few times with no luck, Some really strange behavior coming from the login process

At this point, you rather wait at least 6 hours before re-attempting.

Then you go first to https://plex.tv and try to sign in there with the new password. Only if this was successful, you perform these steps to make your server accessible again: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

Depending on whether you ticked the checkbox “Sign out connected devices after password change” you might also have to sign out all your client devices and sign them back into your plex account.

Thanks - I’ll wait the six hours and see what happens - out of interest does a failed login attempt reset the 6 hour clock?

Just a little more detail - I did log all devices out.
And the server is currently not logged in and in unclaimed mode - I can get into the server plex-web but obviously with no login.
Not sure how that changes the instructions above.

SO I waited six hours + tried to login to plex.tv website and same error - so confused and frustrated.
Any other ideas?

Here’s what I’ve tried so far.

  1. Change my password - still can’t login
  2. Create another account (getting desperate), which works, then when I try and upgrade it to premium, I can’t login with the username, which makes me think there is something wrong with the backend services
