Thanks for joining. Everything seemed to work well, but after upgrading to the latest beta PMS it seems even worse than before. Now Plex Web doesn’t recognize my running server at all and I get “ERROR_Connection refused” on any web UI (Remote, local). What can I do now?
I’ve recovered Plex from another SSD when clean installing my Windows OS. The question is probably dumb, but could that have something to do with that? Most definitely right?
@OttoKerner I also set my router’s DNS address to the one you suggested. It’s stuck and says “Your server is unreachable” with a red triangle
Could it have something to do with the recovering of the entire server from the old solid state drive? Maybe that some sort of machine ID is not matching … idk… the PlexOnlineToken or something? Or whatever?
EDIT 723: Okay! It’s working now locally but not remotely. When I’m accessing my server via app.plex.tv it will only show my old server, not the new one (the old one was just called Version 1 and the new one Version 2, but remotely it shows “Version 1”, when on the home screen. Any help now?
Another EDIT: The CertificateUUID Entry in the PMS Registry is empty. Could that cause anything? Sorry for all the spamming. I just want it to run as smoothely as everybody including me on my server was used to
Thank you sooo much Otto! These entries to be deleted were exactly what I was looking for!! I just didn’t know which ones would need to be refreshed. After following all of your steps my server is available from any connection and running again.
Thanks for saving my setup for the bazillionth time Otto. Hail, Plex Senpai! <3
If you could help me with the root cause of the issue as well, that would be fantastic! After setting up my apps again, I was greeted with 2x the same server (both version 2) and I believe that there’s something going pretty wrong in the background. For instance, my Tautulli is showing every library twice, so I was assuming right away, that there has to be some leftovers from my previous installation (The same server [recovered], different OS version). Does anything easy come to your mind on how to get around that? I literally have no idea how I would be able to determine how to have the previous installation deleted
Nono! Don’t get me wrong I mean from whatever Plex app I logged in right now after following your steps, I had 2 servers to choose from, both with the same name.
Tautulli was just the indicator for me that there has to be something wrong with the installation, as I had twice the libraries, that’s why I thought I might have something installed not properly - and that seems to be true, or why would I have 2 times the same server in any Plex apps? Sorry if I’m not clear enough ugh
Since you did bring not over the registry keys from the old hard drive, there was a new machine ID created at plex.tv
Which basically means: a new server is added to your account.
I have now deleted your older machine from your account, but you can do so yourself in the future, at: https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/devices/pms
After this, you’ll need to force your clients to fetch your current list of server from plex.tv again and don’t use cached information.
The quickest way to do this is to ‘switch users’.
(If you don’t have any users in your Plex Home, which you could use to switch, you can either wait for the clients to refresh on their own or
sign out the client from your plex account and then sign back in.)
Oh wow I didn’t know you could actually into people’s accounts, good stuff! So is there anything I need to do now too or is everything set-up with you having the old server removed?
Thank you so much again for all your help! A true lifesaver you are!
