Previously some TV shows had meta data, now none of my TV has metadata and when I try to match using the name exactly as TVDB or the id # it still doesn’t find a match.
Any search attempt name or id just goes to No Matches Found instantly.
Try going to settings >> agents>> Shows tab and assure the local agent is at the bottom of the list. YOu can drag and drop to move it if necessary. Drag “TheTVDB” to the top. Re-Scan your TV shows and you should get some metadata - it might take a while depending on the size of your library. The above assumes you have the correct folder structure and file naming conventions in place.
I have used the correct naming on most, and if some were working and some weren’t I would change the ones that didn’t work. But none of them work, even ones that had info/images before and are now blank.
I have moved local agent to the bottom (I found that searching the forums earlier).
I don’t think it’s searching at all, because it goes immediately to no match, no spinny thing or anything. And it doesn’t work when I use the TVDB id #, which worked perfectly for a couple of movies that weren’t matching properly.
… might not be good enough for Plex as it tends to be super strict on tv show naming.
TheTVDB.com API used to have some issues/outages which resulted in timeouts and missing matches – however I’m not aware of any recent issues in that area.
seasons folders should be named Season 01 etc., not <show name> S01!
try to get rid of everything after the series/episode pattern or put those suffixes in square brackets ([...]). Those easily confuse Plex and mix things up or even prevent Plex from recognizing them as tv episodes!
Content in square brackets will be ignored by Plex’ scanners.
Example:
TV Shows > Community > Season 01 > Community - s01e01.mkv TV Shows > Community > Season 01 > Community - s01e02 [WEB-DL 1080p DD5.1 H265-d3g].mkv
Are you trying to match the episode level or the Terry Pratchett’s Soul Music directory level. TV can’t match at the season or episode level. I grabbed an mp4 and named it as you did and it matched fine for the series, but the episode title did not populate, although the title was in the start of the description (odd).
Hi!
I had the same issue after a re-install. Movies were all recognized without an issue, however my TVShows were not recognized at all. - I was working before.
I deleted all the cookies form the web browser which solved my issue.
For those us who speak British English Series 01 also appears acceptable as does including the name of the show. So the following form works perfectly & is what I use with my .
PLEX/TV/Bosch/Bosch - Series 1/Bosch.S01E01.mkv
To my mind it’s a nonsense to have potentially thousands of folders named Season 01 or Series 01 & is far more logical to include the series name. Yes, I know it’s not in the Plex ‘bible’ but it works for my 4.5K shows & I shall carry on using this convention until I encounter a problem.
Consider yourself lucky.
This is not in accordance with Plex’ naming conventions for tv shows and clearly not recommended. There’s no guarantee shows will match using your schema!!
This far more logical naming convention works so I do recommend it & if it ever breaks it will be a simple matter to rename “Bosch - Series 1” to “Season 1”
