This is my first forum post ever, so be gentle.
I have a dual-audio anime title I would like to watch with English dub (Dr. Stone). Initially, before I had set my audio track language default (English), I was manually setting the audio track for every single episode. Not only was this tedious, but sometimes, upon switching from the Japanese audio track to English, I would experience a serious audio delay (a few seconds at least). I was able to find a temporary workaround by restarting the Plex client application on my Xbox One (original). This seemed to re-sync the English audio track with the direct video stream. Eventually, this workaround stopped working for me, so I decided I would have to do some troubleshooting (I really didn’t want to make a forum post). Keep in mind I don’t have a technical understanding of the trans-coding process, so I experimented with a bit of everything.
First, I only messed around with the Xbox client, hoping some easy config would solve my issue. I disabled direct stream, and a bunch of other settings which did not help whatsoever. Once I realized I wasn’t getting anywhere on my Xbox, I switched to my laptop. I attempted refreshing the metadata for the title. Before testing results, I changed the audio track language default to English. Upon returning to my Plex client on my Xbox One, the file would no longer play on neither my laptop (server) web client, or my Xbox client. Initially, I thought this was because I refreshed the metadata (I know, that’s illogical and I’m an oaf), but as it turned out, it plays fine in Japanese on any client, so the problem clearly lies in the English audio track, or the way it’s being trans-coded. With that being said, all of my other dual-audio anime titles play just fine. I tried deleting the file, scanning the library, and then re-downloading the file (several times) to no avail. I tried pretty much anything I could think of, including messing with the trans-coder settings (all of which I reverted after discovering they were in no relation to the core issue). I’m kinda stumped.
My gut instinct tells me that the Plex management web application has some sort of cache for my library that I can refresh or clear that will allow my file to play correctly, considering none of my other files are affected, it seems logical to label it as a file issue. As I’ve said before though, reading a fresh file didn’t fix my issue. Below, I’ve copied some log output (which continually repeats itself until my CPU reaches max capacity).
