Player Version#: Latest apps on Samsung Smart TV and Apple Iphone /iPads
I have a Synology Diskstation DS1512+. I’ve used it with Plex for many years, streaming 720p and even 1080p content to my Samsung TV and Apple devices using the PLex Client.
Unfortunately, over the past year or so, it has become almost impossible to stream much at all. I never needed to perform any transcoding prior to watching any videos, but now it seems I have to. The thing is, the transcoding rarely works properly. Sometimes buffering stops and gives me an error saying that it doesn’t work. I have raspberry pi box with is relatively weak streaming directly from my Diskstation to my TV and I’m using nPlayer on my iPhone/Ipad, because it just works.
What happened? This complaint has been a long time coming. I barely use Plex any more, even though I prefer it over everything else.
Please don’t say I need a more powerful NAS to transcode everything. This was never the case. And don’t get me started on subtitles. External subtitles are an absolute nightmare now. And guess what…they never used to be.
I’m happy to provide logs but I’d love for someone to point me to the steps I need to follow.
