Our NAS shows in the app, but “Not authorized” appears when I click on it. I read the linked support article but was uncertain if following its instructions would solve our problems. So I decided to ask for help and/or advice first.
This began after replacing our DS216j with a DS224+ by moving the disks from the old to the new. I couldn’t make Plex work so I reinstalled it. We now have these folders:
homes/plex/movies etc - these are the folders we were using before
Plex - nothing in it, don’t know when this was created
PlexMediaServer/AppData/ Plex Media Server and tmp folders - created recently
While the media files are in the first, they are backed up elsewhere so I could move or copy or delete them without problems. So I can remove everything related to Plex and start over.
I’ve read of the “native app” and the “Plex Claim Token” but I couldn’t find the former or, if I did, couldn’t find any place to enter the token.
The Native app refers to the app you download from the Plex Downloads page. If it were a Docker app, then you would download it from the Docker repository.
The Plex folder was created in DSM 6.x on your old NAS. If that folder is all but empty, then the contents have been migrated to the new installation of Plex.
Since you have a PlexMediaServer folder on your NAS this means you are running DSM 7.x on the NAS.
When you install Plex on DSM 7.x you will have the option to input the Plex token etc. during the installation. You also have the option to click on the link and grab your Plex token, copy it and then input the token into the installer option.
Uninstall Plex and use the first option (keep all data), then reinstall Plex and use the Plex Token option during installation (read the dialogues as they are displayed).
That should install Plex and Claim the server for you at the same time.
