Before I get logs etc. I wanted to see if anyone else has this issue. Since a few months back (just a rough estimate), I can no longer resume videos (1080p or 4k, same issue). I can start them from the beginning without problems but trying to resume just gets me indefinite buffering. The solution now is that I open up Kodi with the Plex add-on and that is always working. But of course, Kodi has other issues like lack of HDR so my preference would be to use the native Plex app if at all possible.
Hmmm, another thing I have noticed is pretty much all content is transcoded now. Even 1080p, H264, DTS content is transcoded (both Video and Audio) on the Plex Xbox app… if I jump over to Kodi with the Plex plugin, the same video will Direct Play. Huh?! Certainly feels like a client issue then… actually, all other clients Direct Play (Windows, mobile etc.). Only the Plex Xbox app transcodes.
UPDATE: After some more testing, my guess is that Kodi can Direct Play because it doesn’t have to transcode the PGS subtitles, where as Plex will. I know it’s a known issue but I somehow thought Kodi would have the same problem.
