Server Version#: 1.28.1.6104-788f82488
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.84.1 and Plex for Samsung 2.012
I’ve lost my Movies folder from my media server. When I say server, it’s just a 1TB drive I have attached to my router. My TV and Music folders are still there, just the movies are gone. I was looking at it three days ago - Aug 25 - and it seemed to be fine, today that folder is just gone. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Are you saying that the files have been deleted off of the 1TB drive?
Or the files are just not visible to you in Plex?
I was hoping the files were just not being seen, but it appears to have been deleted and the majority of my music has also been deleted, not the entire Music folder, but most of what was in the folder.
Wow ok.
What system is your sever on that has the external drive attached?
Normally I would be suspect that the drive or cable wasn’t attached right but that generally results in no files being recognized.
Do you know how to check the health of your hard drive?
Thank you for responding. I plugged it directly into my Mac Mini and ran disk utility. It said:
Running First Aid on “NO NAME” (disk4s1)
Checking file system and repairing if necessary and if possible.
Volume was successfully unmounted.
Performing fsck_exfat -y -x /dev/rdisk4s1
Checking volume.
Checking main boot region.
Checking system files.
Volume name is NO NAME.
Checking upper case translation table.
Checking file system hierarchy.
Checking active bitmap.
The bitmap needs to be repaired.
Rechecking main boot region.
Rechecking alternate boot region.
The volume NO NAME was repaired successfully.
File system check exit code is 0.
Restoring the original state found as mounted.
Operation successful.
It didn’t result in any of the lost information returning. I’ve lost a lot of content. I may be being paranoid because of the data breach, but this is the first problem I’ve had with the drive, and it seems very odd that I’ve lost one entire folder and then everything from my Music folder up to “T”, except for FLAC collections. MP3s up to “T” have been deleted.
Bummer, sorry to hear that.
There are ways to recover lost data.
You can check out this video and see if anything mentioned applies to you or works.
Thank you. Not sure it’s worth that trouble. I have backups of the content, but I’d need to transfer and clean it all up again to re-create the server. Not sure I’ll bother doing that.
