Cant see Plex Media Server on my local network

Hi. I starting using IPVanish and then couldn’t access my PMS. I disconnected the VPN - no joy. I rebooted my router and modem and NAS and no joy. I uninstalled PMS and reinstalled and rebooted everything, no joy. I deleted the Server on Plex and rebooted everything, no joy. It shows it is running on the NAS but I can’t see it on the local network. From the app on my iPAD it shows as offline. I have no idea what to do and am far from technical. Any ideas? I can’t figure out where to start.

Thanks for the quick response
VPN is disabled and removed from my network settings on my NAS
I set the static IP to my MAC address on my router to 10.0.0.1
The firewall on my NAS is not enabled
Alex shows the app as running
When i type on http://10.0.0.1:32400/web it opens up PLEX. My server does not appear there but I can see one of my friends that shared their PMS with me. Same when I click on the URL from the App Centre on my NAS.

Synology DS1513+
PLEX Media Server 1.9.3.4290.9798172d4
MacAir using Yosemite 10.10.5
DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 6
I used Belong as my ISP, F@ST4315U router with software version 9.84_F4315_Telstra

in Plex settings I get Web, Users and Devices, no server. But on devices I click on server and I can see my server there and it says

Plex Dee

Thanks a lot - hope you can work some magic

Thanks Andy, I followed the instructions to the letter - because I didn’t understand anything so no deviation…
Unfortunately no go. Now when I try to access plex, nothing happens, it does not even reach my log in screen. Can I blow it totally away and install like it is the first time? i couldn’t find a good way to do that.

ok - so al that seemed to work and I could see the new server. The new server was identified and i began set up, but on the first page where you name the server I would get a pop up error saying “there was a problem saving these settings” Not sure if I missed something on the uninstall or not. Any ideas? sorry… oh and I change the IP

now i get

No soup for you!

The server you’re trying to access doesn’t want to let you in. Make sure you’re signed in as a user with access to this server.

Thanks Andy. Fingers crossed!!

Hi Andy,
myPlex isn’t my server right? something else?
I only have the NBN(Telstra) & Belong routers - so two of them. I provided the below details. the NBN is a G-240G-P. but i don’t know how to log on to it to look at anything
FW is not enabled on DSM
I couldn’t see the setting “Set MTU value manually”

I don’t know what I am looking at here but I looked at my port fw on the router and it has this- related to flex

Server Name External Port Start External Port End Protocol Internal Port Start Internal Port End Server IP Address WAN Interface
Plex Media Server 22285 22285 TCP 32400 32400 10.0.0.2 eth0.1
Plex Media Server 26993 26993 TCP 32400 32400 10.0.0.2 eth0.1
Plex Media Server 14184 14184 TCP 32400 32400 10.0.0.2 eth0.1
Plex Media Server 10675 10675 TCP 32400 32400 10.0.0.2 eth0.1
Plex Media Server 23837 23837 TCP 32400 32400 10.0.0.2 eth0.1

A little while ago I couldn’t access the internet from my mac but i could from my work laptop when on VPN. so i called belong and it ended up that i needed to reset the DNS on my mac. other than that, i think everything is ok.

Sometimes i get errors on my antivirus on my naps saying no internet access.

Does the port info tell you anything?

Hi Andy, that’s right, I didn’t enter the port details myself.

I have attached a png of my network settings - still no mention of MTU.

My NAS was already set up on my router - one of the few things I know how to do

I stopeed flex running, deleted Preferences.xml and couldn’t find plexmediaserver.pid. Then i clicked on run and opened up PLEX. It found the server and started the set up. I changed the name, clicked on next and got the same error as before “There was a problem saving these settings” I then deselected “allow me to access my media outside my home” and clicked on next and got the same error. I have attached the latest logs for your viewing pleasure.

Are we getting closer???

Andy, I have updated my logs here. I kept clicking randomly on trying to set it up and it eventually started the set up, allowed me to select my libraries and finished the set up under server name test. but upon completion I couldn’t access it from plex, couldn’t see the server.

Not sure if the new logs provide different information.

Hi Andy,

I did all of that and still no joy. It now says my PMS (named DSDee now) is unavailable. Plex will automatically try and connect to this server.

Any other ideas? I won’t be on my network for a bit so will be next week before I respond again

Hi Andy, just got back and reset everything but no joy. I have updated the logs here.

I reset everything, re-installed plex, created a static IP address. I hadnt completely uninstalled plex folders before doing this so gave the first troubleshoooting tips another go. but again - to no avail. It finds the server and during the step where I name the server and check (or not check) the box allow access outside the network it fails

Any other thoughts? Donna

Hi Andy. By fails I mean during tset up I get the same error I did before “there was a problem saving these settings”

When I type in the URL as mentioned above I get exactly the same behaviour. (HTTP not HTTPS) Now it doesnt identify the PLEX as a server on my Network anymore. Same as before.

When I go into settings on Plex, I dont see the server option. Under devices I can see the server I tried to set up is there - screen dump attached . It is like I dont have permissions but I dont get it.
