Can't upload new poster or background

I’m not 100% on where to put this. And yes I know there are ways around this, I will be using them for now, this is more just to inform you that the bug exists. It came up in a different thread, but wasn’t resolved along with everything else.

Basically, on windows, and I’ve tested it on two machines, when trying to upload a new poster or backgroud, I can get this far. If I try to hit Open, or Cancel, or the little x on the upload window, it freezes. Not solid, it just hangs here and you can’t close the upload window or do anything in Plex behind it. I guess I’ve never let it hang for more than a couple minutes.

Tried the web app, it doesn’t hang but it also doesn’t upload.

Any workaround in the meantime? I thought somebody said something about local media assets but I can’t find it

Place the poster next to the movie file. Follow this guide Local Media Assets - Movies | Plex Support for how to name it.

Edit - Refresh the movie after you have the file ready. Or refresh the entire library if you want to do a bunch at a time.

Alternatively, you can upload the photo using Plex Web. The bug is in the Plex for Windows app.

Thank you. Local is working, but as stated in op, the web app doesn’t freeze, but it also doesn’t upload.

Huh. It works for me. I uploaded an image from my computer.
