Can't Watch TV Episodes in Web Player or Windows Plex App

I can watch anything on my TV via Plex on Roku (minus the occasional crash). My web player has problems if I download more than one episode of a show at a time.

I get the error: “Playback Error
There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”

This happens as the result of downloading 6 episodes consecutively. If I download one episode, it plays fine. It seems the grouping of episodes that I create now is messed up somehow. I can watch anyting else prior to a couple of weeks ago.

To top it off, my home page is messed up. It displays nothing but “There was an unexpected error
Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems”. So now my home screen is corrupted.

And again, on my TV, no problems at all.

I have been able to temp fix the problem by watching the first episode of the series on my TV then it seems to work on my computer. I can also do a full unintsall/reinstall but that is a temporary fix. The problem returns. I’ve rolled back to older versions of the server. Also a temp fix.

I tried following the extremely confusing directions to repair a database but that isn’t working. That’s also an unreasonable amount of work to do every time this happens.

Please help. I have posted here multiple times with different problems and no one has ever replied to help. Am I posting my requests for support in the wrong places? I have paid for a lifetime license.

As a starting point, people will want to see your logs after the error has occurred.

Done. But so we’re clear, I have done that every time in the past and got ghosted. What about second of all? Is there something I am doing wrong? Because this one piece of software is probably the most crucial app in my life and it often fails me and I want to make sure I am taking the correct steps to getting the support I need.

Just to add to this thread…I experience the exact same issue on the first episode of TV series only. You’re not imagining this. Like you I came here looking for a solution.

As a work-around I CUT the first episode out of the Series folder and MOVE it to another location. Then give Plex a minute to update the folder contents. Then I move the first episode back into the same folder and everything works as it should. I agree, this only seems to happen to me when an entire series is downloaded in one download or torrent and then moved into the Series folder in one shot. If I download an entire series in multiple files, the problem does not manifest itself.

We both would…LOL. At least the workaround prevents us from having to re-download episode 1 again. Still annoying though…
