Hey guys. Ever since I’ve upgraded to iOS 18.3 CarPlay does not remember the last app used and always goes back to the Home Screen when connected to CarPlay. I’ve found an automation that launches the Apple Music app’s now playing but I’ve been using Plexamp and I was wondering if there’s a similar event handler that I can call for Plexamp.
So the way the Apple one works is you go into the shortcuts app, press Automations at the bottom and create a new one when CarPlay connects. From there it opens a url named audio-player-event://. So every time when my iPhone connects to CarPlay the Apple music now playing appears.
Just wondering if a similar event exists that I can call with an automation for Plexamp.
Plexamp supports universal links, with https://listen.plex.tv which you might be able to use. We’re adding https://listen.plex.tv/open-app in the next release to make it easier for it to be launched without any other actions taken.
Is there any documentation on how to use universal links? Is it possible to link to a specific playlist or album/artist, or to control the playback mode (shuffle, etc)? Thank you!
