Cast thumbnail pictures not appearing

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935

I have run into an issue with the cast thumbnails not appearing for videos that I add to Plex. All of my videos are mp4 and I use MetaZ on OS X to add the meta-data for pictures, cast, directors etc. All of these videos when added to Plex do not show the cast images. Instead you just get an empty circle.

Here is the mp4 video without using any meta-data.

Here is the mp4 when I do include the meta-data

Is there a reason why the CAST thumbnails do not appear when these are added to the video?

Thanks!

Look in Settings -> Agents -> Movies
In Personal Media / Plex Movie / The Movie Database, make sure Local Media Assets is at the bottom of the selected agents.
Then refresh the metadata for the movie and/or library.

Plex pulls cast list & pictures from The Movie Database. If Local Media Assets is above TMDB, Plex might be pulling cast names from the embedded metadata and stopping, never downloading cast pictures.

The cover art is different for the two screenshots. Is the first downloaded cover art and the second embedded cover art?

FYI, check out Subler, subler.org. It is a nice Mac only tool originally designed to mux subtitles into mp4/m4v files (it now supports muxing video & audio tracks). Subler can also pull metadata from online sources and edit metadata. It would make it easy to tag the audio track with the correct language, so it doesn’t appear as “Unknown.”

Thank you for the response. I looked at the settings and Local Media Assets is at the bottom. I tried moving them around and refreshing to see if that helped but it did not.

The cover art is different as MetaZ pulls in the one and Plex pulls in a different one.
