CEC Issues

Hello,

I’m using the Rasberry Pi B edition - (The Older one I think). Git version - 1.0.1
dbb11b7389e5941037ee355839bc1aa57acfd541

I recently switched to Rasplex from Kodi / Xbmc and I’ve noticed that the Rasplex has issues with CEC. It will work on a reboot, but suddenly drops off. I’m using the same tv as well. I couldn’t find any relevant articles for 1.0.1 Rasplex so I was wondering if anyone here can help me.

Is anybody else having the same issue?

Yes, I have the same issue. I have to reboot to have a working CEC control.

Has there been any resolution to this issue? I’m still having this problem.

There was a new version of RasPlex released (1.0.2). Have you tried updating to the latest version and testing CEC again?

In addition, because of the varying level of how CEC is implemented in various TV’s, things like this can happen. My LG TV is a little fickle with CEC too. I find that once the HDMI input is switched to something else and screensaver is activated CEC will be lost, unless I manually reconnect to it via Simplink (LG TV thing).

Workarounds that can help CEC stay connected on Rasplex include:

  • Disabling screensaver
  • Enable automatically sign in
  • Tweak settings in CEC addon (Settings > Input > Peripherals > CEC addon)

I will have to try this. Everything worked great when I was using Open ELEC + Kodi on the same Pi, with the same tv. How do I update via the command line? I’d imagine that works better than through the tv interface right?

Go to System Update, select the Pre-release channel and then check for updates.

Regards

Thanks - Now is that the more stable version ?

The update will be to the latest release 1.0.2.

So it looks like it updated since my original post. I turned off screensaver today. I should be up to date. What settings should I tweak in cec exactly? Also automatic sign in is grayed out.

Hmm actually I’m still at 1.0.1 - the Stable branch. When I hit update, it says it’s already up to date…

You’ve ignored my original post, change to Pre-release channel.

Yeah. I realized that and went back to change it. I’m on 1.0.2 now. Let’s see what happens. Automatic sign in is still grayed out. Thanks Ned!

@bumperjeep:
That “Automatic sign in” stuff is intended for “Plex Home” managed users.
It should not be used for any normal Plex account user.
So if your PMS server doesn’t use “Plex Home” accounts it should always be greyed out.

Normal Plex account users only have to sign in once anyway, as RasPlex saves the authentication token from that event, to use in future sessions (until/unless you use the ‘sign out’ command in preferences).
So a form of automatic ‘sign in’ is the default anyway. But “Plex Home” users need a different method.

Also, a client on the same LAN as the PMS server may be able to access it without signing in,
though that depends on the PMS server configuration, which can forbid such usage.

Thanks for the help. I still don’t think it’s working correctly for me. Are other users having this issue with RasPlex on the original Pi? Could it be the HDMI cable? Never had any issues with Kodi and now for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get the Pi working right with CEC.

I am also having sime issues with CEC on 1.0.2 but it is that raspberry pi is gettin double input. When I for example klick the the side button once it goes to the side two klicks. I have never had that isue whit Kodi.
When I use a usb keyboard It works fine so it have to be something with the CEC.

I am using a Phillips screen.

I still haven’t had any success in resolving this. I’m convinced it’s a RasPlex issue though and not a hardware problem. I tried everything that was suggested here to no avail. No CEC problems with OpenElec Kodi for the Pi either.

Rasplex uses the same libCEC and underlying code as OpenElec latest releases.

Thanks Ned - None of the updates have addressed this either unfortunately. CEC dies and doesn’t come back until I reboot it.
