Challenge creating single album for Queensrÿche

Server Version#: 4.147.1
Player Version#: PlexAmp latest

I have Queensrÿche’s album Empire on Plex and it’s proving really hard to create a single album for. I am trying to set them with all the same metadata but I think it’s being overwritten and almost every song is displaying in a separate album as shown in my screenshot. Album artist and Artist are set to Queensrÿche. I do see it is repeatedly setting the Album Artist to Queensryche so I wonder if the Umlaut is causing the problem. What can I do to troubleshoot this and merge them into a single album?

No problem here.

@Yaracuy What is your Artist and Album Artist for Empire?

I resolved this by removing the Umlaut and having them be all the same. Not sure why it didn’t work but seems to be better.

I didn’t need to remove the umlaut.

For all tracks:

  • Artist: Queensrÿche
  • Album Artist: Queensrÿche
  • Artist Sort: Queensrÿche
  • Album Artist Sort: Queensrÿche

FYI… This is the second thread I’ve seen today reporting that umlauts are causing problems … Bug: local poster not recognized when file name contains an umlaut.

BTW… Queensrÿche can cause problems as there are two listing for the band over at musicbrainz. This Queensrÿche and this Queensrÿche. So, if you ever add the album Frequency Unknown which is under the second listing of the band it may need to be force matched as I’ve had problems with it.

It could very well be a bug with Umlauts in recent Plex versions.

My Queensrÿche albums were matched a long time ago. And I believe I matched Empire with this entry in MusicBrainz

Umlauts are no problem on Windows. I’m using them just fine with various media types and Plex.
But apparently on Mac they are. At least in file and folder names.

Yeah, mine too and I also have no umlauts in the folder on disk /Music/Music Collection/Queensryche/Empire (1990) [album]/ but have them in the tags. I suspect the bug maybe having the umlauts in the folder/filename.

@OttoKerner to confirm, have you tired doing a dance or a new folder/file with a umlaut in it ? It maybe a newly matching thing …

I do have umlauts in the folder name on Synology - accessed from Windows.

Looks like a weird issue.

I won’t be refreshing metadata for Queensrÿche for the time being

This is about Mac Linux.

I know
