Change aspect ratio of episode cover in a TV show?

Hello,

Is it possible to change the aspect ratio of one (or more) specific episode cover (thumbnail) in a tv show?

Background: Many of my TV shows have specials. I collected most of them and added them using a “S00” folder and the respective episode numbers using The TV DB, for example: https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=77398&seasonid=24855&lid=7

In this example, Episode 1 and 6 (“Fight The Future” and “I Want To Believe”) are movies. Now, they are displayed like that:

However, I want to add the official cover (https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/l3umPrC6vEOhv3yabewqLcRFTLO.jpg). Now when I do that the cover gets cropped to the aspect ratio of a normal episode thumbnail.

Any way to change this?

no. only alternative would be e.g. an own movie library where you treat them as movies (such as “TV Show Movies/Specials”). Plex assumes all TV show episodes to have no posters but only a thumbnail of the episodes actual content.

I love Plex, but this is actually really narrow-minded behaviour in my opinion. I just picked an expample, but in fact there are countless tv shows where movies aired as specials. So I could just add them as movies in my movie library, no problems there. However it would be more streamlined to add them as specials with the proper cover/information. Feature request?

The only way around this is to find a poster already with the correct aspect ratio.

Or, morph one yourself.

Do you happen to have a reliable source for this?
Thanks.

What are you asking for?
EDIT: Ah, I see. No I don’t. I just google the name and then find the picture I like. There is no site I know of that has perfect landscape pictures. It’s a google crap-shoot…
