Several of us were discussing over in this thread that TheTVDB.com really doesn’t do a good job, by modern standards, in having the best and most populated metadata for TV Shows. Despite the name which makes it look like it’s centered around movies only, TheMovieDB.org has much better metadata, and a better site. I’d like to request that Plex implement a server-side change setting the default metadata agent for TV shows to TheMovieDB.org instead of TheTVDB.com - unless some devs or Ninjas can specify a reason for keeping the, run-down default for everyone?
Isn’t this a setting on the server under the agent tab… you can reorder them by preference… no need to change the default just update your server settings.

i think so too…
@sha256 have you tried changing the settings? should work right out of the box.

No, that does something different.
If you prefer TMDB as your primary metadata source, Edit your library instead, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and select TMDB in the Agent selector.
Yep, I knew all that stuff
Rather, I was suggesting to the Plex Devs that the default - for everyone, or at least for new installs of PMS - be changed to TMDB instead of TTVDB, for the benefit of all!
TheTVDB works quite well for the majority of users.
Only a small fraction is having issues with it, currently.
TVDB doesn’t have a lot of my shows, and the way the episodes are laid out don’t seem to fit a specific pattern. Some are based on air date, some are sequential viewing, and others numbered incorrectly in the episodes if the episode is extended length and not a special. They lock a lot of shows in these odd standards, and requests to have it changed based on the production company’s verified episode list just get ignored or they state they wont change it. They say that episodes should not be based on wiki-articles, where many are.
TMDB tends to more closely reflect the actual production company recommendation, even though I have had a few that have not. Not nearly as many as TVDB. There also seems to be more artwork available on TMDB, and often better artwork. The problem is the pulling of the metadata. TVDB seems to pull regularly, while TMDB seems to not pull completely. I have my settings to pull TMDB first and TVDB as alternate, but that was not the default. I still have issues with the Pull from TMDB. However, if I check a server running Embey, it has no problem with either pull. I’ve basically had to DL many Show Posters and manually insert them. Again, TVDB artwork is often far less than TMDB.
Well seems to be more a case by case basis the TVDB works well for me so I do prefer it, and if you don’t it’s easy enough to change the default, as suggested by the ninja!
2021 clean-up: obsolete (TMDB is available and can be set as default agent for libraries; new Plex TV Series Scanner is sourcing metadata from various sources)
