Change of server

First of all, thanks for a beautiful product!

Hi, I have 3 plex servers, each hosting different content.
How do i switch between then in rasplex?
I know there is a manual, but it is abit tricky to use that to switch every time.

Assuming they are all on the same network you don’t have to do anything, libraries from all three should appear on the home screen, I use two servers without any issue.

If you are using the latest version 0.7.0 and the default skin, each library will have the name of the server below it as you select each one.

The answer above assumes that you’ve not configured the servers to require authentication even on the local network. If they are configured to do so, then the best way to access media from all three servers without having to switch between them is to have each of the three server accounts share content to the others. To achieve this you must do the appropriate reconfiguration via “plex.tv”, so that each server account invites the others to access its content, and each server then also has to formally ‘accept’ the invitations from the others. That will allow anyone logged in to either of the servers to also access content from the others. (Only library content, not channels.)

For the PC PHT version this would make content from the two servers it’s not directly logged in to appear in a separate “Shared content” section, and that is also the default behaviour of RasPlex. But for RasPlex you also have the option of adding an “advancedsettings.xml” file to the “Userdata” folder of RasPlex (available as an SMB fileshare folder through normal Windows filesharing).

That file will (after next reboot) modify RasPlex behaviour so that it shows all ‘Shared Content’ sections in the main menu, just like @NedtheNerd described for non-authorized servers (though full authorization is still used). So with three servers involved you can (just for example) have three separate “TV Shows” entries in the menu, each identified by the server/account name of the server it comes from.

I’m attaching an “advancedsettings.xml.txt” file with the needed content for this option. You just need to remove the “.txt” file extension and copy it into the “Userdata” fileshare of RasPlex.
