Changelog Update

The latest update mentions * (Scanner) Adds support for the Extend multi-episode format i.e. S01E01-02 (#14064) what does this actually mean?

Current listings for Deep Space Nine
S01E01E02
S01E03
S01E04

There is no mention of Episode 2 (Attached Image)

When I use S01E01-02, Episode 2 appears but is pointless as it is the same file as E01
I don’t think this will ever get sorted out can you not just add E02 to E01 for example:
Emissary (1) or maybe Emissary (1-2) or Emissary (1) Emissary (2)
E01-E02 - January 3, 1998 . 1 hr 30 min

The official naming schema for multi-episode files is Show Name - sXXeYY-eZZ.ext, where XX is the season number, YY is the number of the 1st episode in the file and ZZ is the number of the last episode in that file.

With the latest beta, Plex have added support to drop the leading e for the index of the last episode → Show Name - sXXeYY-ZZ.ext.

It’s still the same multi-episode handling… clicking each of the episode items within Plex will play the full file; playing the file will mark all included items as watched.

See “Multiple Episodes in a Single File” in the related support article:

There’s a feature suggestion discussing an option to show such “multi episode files” as a single item in Plex, aggregating the information of all contained episodes.

Been there and done that before so it appears to be something that Plex has yet to implement
I can remember back I did something that split a 2 episode file into 2 episode files I think I was using A and B instead of 1 and 2

Not sure what you mean by using A and B instead of 1 and 2… you can certainly split a multi-episode file; there’s apps that’ll do that for you e.g. based on chapters or timestamps.

are you using the Plex TV Series scanner/agent?

Yes I am using the Plex TV Series agent
I have it working like that but no good to me having each episode playing the same file.
I’m not going to be splitting them either, far to many episodes to do

Sorry I misunderstood your original question. The new supported naming does not have anything to do with that. You should vote on the feature suggestion @tom80H linked above

Damn, I cancelled all appointments and phone calls to checkout the changes for
