Changing the audio channel on multiple videos at once

Hey guys,

Is there a way to change the audio channel on multiple files at once?

I’ve got a tv series that has multiple series and it’s got 2 audio channels, I want to change them all to English as that’s not the default. I’m currently having to go to each episode and change it and it’s long winded.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Your best approach is to remux the media itself, setting the English track as the first & default track.

mkvtoolnix (mkvtoolnix-gui) is a great tool for this. Painless, extremely fast, and with no re-encoding of any of the streams.

Great, will check that out. Thanks @ChuckPa

I doubt that will work, if I have understood the OP correctly.
(it did not in my testings with earlier Plex versions)

When you have set up “Prefer audio tracks in” to, say “German” and remux as you said, Plex will choose the German track automaticly.

It does not matter if the German track is the first, the second or whatever in the videofile.

Plex seems to choose on the Tracklanguage (you can also greatly set it in mkvtoolnix-gui), which is correct, but in some cases, users want not to watch movies/episodes in the language they have set up as prefered.

If so, every single movie or every single episode needs to be “switched” by hand.

My understanding of the OP is to modify multiple at once.
I did not read any requirement to support multiple default audio tracks based on language.

Yeah, I guess you’re right…
but its far more work (for the user) to remux all the files, instead of just switching the audiolanguage per serie/season or even while selecting those episodes the user wants to change.

I just like software which is able to fullfill the wishes of its users, instead of forcing them to change local files permanently.

So, enough hijacking, sorry for interrupting

When you say English is not the default, do you mean the series/file default or your settings default?

You can change the plex default to en and it should automatically play en audio as long as there is an audio track labeled as such.

Hey @TeknoJunky, that did the trick. Thanks for letting me know, saves loads of time.

Thanks to everyone else who helped.
