Chinese subtitle still has display problems in the new version of iPadOS 26.1

When playing videos with ASS Chinese subtitles, it may cause the playback to be stuck and unable to watch normally due to the Chinese font. It has nothing to do with whether the subtitle file is built-in (MKV) or external. Chinese subtitles that cannot be displayed will be replaced by ▯ ▯ ▯ ▯ ▯ ▯ ▯. And it cannot use Settings-Advanced-Use to switch the Old Video Player now.

This problem also occured on iPadOS 18 and be fixed by version 8.40. But it happened again.

After some investigation, the last working version for iOS 26 is 2025.28.0. You may find this tool useful for downloading an older version of the ipa file. GitHub - majd/ipatool: Command-line tool that allows searching and downloading app packages (known as ipa files) from the iOS App Store
