Subtitles are awful in iOS with new app layout

Using version 2025.17.0 on iPad iOS (iPad 12,2, version 18.5) but the same issue occurs on my iPhone 13 (iOS 18.5). Subtitles are wonky and decide not to work randomly.

Go to PIP? No subtitles. Log into any wife that’s not my home wife? No subtitles (but cellular works fine). Change subtitle format while video is playing (switch from SRT to ASS, for example)? No subtitles even if I switch back. I have to close out the app and go back into the app all over again. As a Deaf person who relies on subtitles, this is a real deal killer. Anyone else have this issue?

Same, having problems with subtitles too. PGS subtitles on a show I’m watching are out of sync. They work fine on my other devices though. ASS subtitles seem to work slightly better as they don’t have this problem. iPad Mini 7 iOS 18.5.
