Chinese Subtitles are shown as â€üéÛâ€üéÛâ€üéÛ

Hi there,

I am running PMS on Ubuntu and before that, it was running on Windows 7. I am also using SubZero. The problem is, PMS shows Chinese subtitles in weird characters such as â€üéÛâ€üéÛâ€üéÛ etc. Not empty boxes, only those weird looking characters. I have not been able to solve this problem.

What I noticed is that if the subtitle has both English and Chinese, it works fine. But if its only Chinese, then there’s no luck…

What format are the subtitles? SRT? SUB/IDX? or are the subtitles embedded within the video?
