Latest version of PMS doesn't support subtitle Korean

Hi, I found a problem as soon as I updated my PMS from 1.14 to 1.15 latest beta version. All devices that I’m using can’t play videos with external .srt(Korean) properly. Video was fine, but subtitle was not.

Of course, my all Korean subtitles are incoded in UTF-8 and those were played well in previous official version of PMS. So, I had to go back to 1.14 version of PMS.

I’m wondering if there are any plans to solve this problem?

Would you mind providing a copy of one of your .srt subtitle files we can try to reproduce with?

We were able to play the subtitles fine. Were they just not showing at all or incorrectly displayed?

for example, “가나다마바사” are displayed as “□□□□□□□”

Any update? today, I updated server from 1.14 public version to 1.15 public PMS. and the problem of incorrectly displaying is not solved. Could you check this again?

After update, Korean subtitle is not showing.
It displays right in web player but when I use encode with subtitle option or I play video on android TV it does not display.

I think there’s an error with Font file maybe?

what do you by “when i use encode with subtitle option” ?

yeah squares generally mean the font file is missing. trying to figure out why that would be. Are you also running the server on a Synology @tracertw ?

yes. i’m running my server on synology.

it was ‘burn subtitle’ option i tried to tell. I checked same option name in english.

It worked as i changed font file

My mistake. I downgraded my pms version.

When I’m testing with 1.15 it shows same error.

I changed font file but it’s not working

this time i tried using font file from 1.15 in pms version 1.13. and it shows correctly
maybe it’s not problem with font file

This issue appears to be caused by an error in our build process causing the files to have incorrect permissions. We’ll fix it in an upcoming release, but in the interim, you can run sudo chmod 644 [/path/to/PMS]/Resources/Fonts/*.tt* to work around it.
