When downloading a movie with multiple versions, is there a way to choose which version to download? I always seem to be downloading the highest quality (in my case 4k) version, even if i selected a 1080p version in “play version”. only workaround seems to be to split my libraries into 1080p and 2160p, but that defeats the purpose of “play version”, doesn’t it?
You can define a limit under Settings - Plex for Windows - Downloads
If you set Video Quality to “High (20mbps)”, it will download the 1080p version if it exists. Otherwise it will transcode before the download, to produce such a version.
thanks, i’ve just tried that option, but somehow when setting “high (1080p)” it still downloads the 2160p version.
when setting to 480p it transcodes (not sure if transcoding from the 1080p version or 2160p).
choosing different versions in “play version” doensn’t seem to effect it, too (but wasn’t really expecting it to).
