Same problem here with an Asus Chromebook C200. I updated to the latest version of ChromeOS: 76.0.3809.136. At this point I am pretty sure plex’s frontend does not support old version of Chrome, so this problem might never be solved by the plex team. This is an old model so it does not have the playstore either. So we’re pretty much doomed.
Same issue as others have describes. Please fix!
Same issue here using a Chromebox. Long time plex pass holder. Worked well casting from chrome to my chrome cast. Pretty frustrating!
Same issue here. Is this being fixed?
same here and my credentials keep getting expired
Same issue here. Lifetime Plex Pass.
How do we get this on the bug list?
Using Microsoft Edge (Chromium) and I do not have this issue. I would strongly recommend moving away from Chrome because it is slow, bulky and prone to compatibility issues with many services.
Both use the Chromium engine so it is probably an issue with whatever Google has done.
Can’t “move away” from Chrome on a Chromebook. Same issue here. Ridiculous that this has dragged on so long
Oh, that could be issue an then. Does this not work?
Best Browsers for Chromebook [ Chrome Os Browsers ] (techimaze.com)
@ProjectVRD Older Chromebooks like the ones affected by this cannot run Android mobile apps, and so are confined to strictly Chrome (it’s in the name, after all). The only way to install apps (or in this case alternative browsers) outside of the Chrome ecosystem is to fully replace the OS with another Linux distro, which often times requires disassembling the device to remove a write-protect screw.
As Chrome will not be updated from Google on these devices, and replacing Chrome with a different browser is beyond the skillset of your typical user, these devices are effectively dead to Plex. Even if they have no intention of fixing it, it would at least be nice to receive some sort of confirmation to that effect. “We made a change to X which required a newer Y library, and as such our application is now incompatible with versions of Z older than version N.” Something along those lines.
Alas…
