Web Player issues abound!

Ok Since My original post here, I’ve seen the following posts

Since last server update…
[BUG] Plex Media Server Version…
Plex is crashing browser…
Plex Server crashing after google chrome…

and nothing from a Plex Employee on any of them. Can we get something? Even an “You’re all crazy” would be something!

I’m using the same version of Chrome (98.0.4758.82 (Official Build) (64-bit)), but using Plex Web 4.74.2 and I’m experiencing crashes during playback of 320kbps mp3s from my Plex music libraries. I initially experienced this with mp3s served from Plex Media Server 1.25.5.5492 running on a Western Digital PR4100.

Then, as a possible work-around, I installed an older version of the Plex Media Server (1.25.3.5409 from about a month ago) but I still experience browser crashes in Chrome and in Edge. I’m running the playback browser on a Windows 10 computer.

Ok @OttoKerner I guess it is what I asked for, it’s something from an Plex Employee :grinning: but I wasn’t even looking at music issues, so not sure if you just adding to this thread or pointing out an Plex Employee has acknowledged an issue?

On the ladder point, he isn’t able to reproduce the issue on his machine. I’d be happy to give logs.

I don’t think it’s a “Chromium based browser” issue, since it’s not happening if I play the same exact file (Riddick.mp4) from the same machine (Windows 10 Pro) with the same browser (Brave V1.35.101 Chromium: 98.0.4758.87) from my Jellyfin Server running along side of Plex. Nor am I getting the same issue playing the same file on through Plex in a Chrome Window (Version 98.0.4758.82 (Official Build) 64-bit)
So any other thoughts?

Curious… If you use the local embedded Web Client with your server do you get the same error?

If not then that would seem to indicate its a plex problem with their recent client updates rolled out to app plex tv.

Also think I read a comment somewhere that Firefox is okay so would be a potential workaround in the short term.

@anon5074910 No actually I don’t, even installed Brave and set as my default browser tried the same file played with no issues. Went back to my desktop and tried it again with the same file and same exact error I reported in my first post.

Chrome 98 release seems to be having WebRTC and U2F and other upgrade compatibility issues.
