When I try to watch HEVC 10 bit content on my Chromecast with google TV it constantly buffers. it’ll play for a small period of time and then pause to buffer, then play again for a little bit. This only started fairly recently and it’s quite annoying as it makes watching anything basically impossible. I have logs for this but not sure where to post them
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
Mine won’t play h265 / HEVC at all on Chromecast since latest update. It flashes on the screen for a moment then skips to the end of the series. Plays fine on phone and PC, but not when casting. Following.
Got no idea why this is happening myself. I got my chromecast on a USB-C Hub with ethernet so it’s not the network. My server is on a 2.5 gb circuit and it’s on the same LAN as the chromecast. No problems with any other devices just the chromecast and it seems like it’s specifically only HEVC/265 10 bit content. If it’s 8 bit I don’t have a problem and if it’s small enough 10bit I also don’t have a problem. Just larger bitrate files.
Ok so I got fed up with this issue and purchased a google tv streamer. The problem is not on the new device which honestly leads me to believe google decided to artificially slow down old devices in an effort to push people to buy the newest one. There was no reason what so ever for it to randomly stop being able to play content that it used to be able to play. Good thing is that the new device wasn’t too much more expensive than the older one and it does come with an ethernet port so I no longer have to use a USB-C hub.
