Since upgrading my app and server to these versions I can no longer cast videos to my chromecast. It appears in the cast list, I pick it and it boots up the plex app on my tv. I pick a video from my local library and it just sits there are the plex logo and does nothing.
If I pick an on demand movie it casts just fine.
So it seems to be any content I have put myself in my library won’t cast anymore. I can play videos through the iOS app itself fine, so its streaming ok. As soon as I cast it stops.
Any updates/fix? I am having the same issue on my Chromecast devices that just started recently, but I noticed at least a few files still cast. I also have a newer Google TV Streamer which I am able to cast any video to with no issues.
I have recently noticed some videos won’t play, they just immediately skip to the next one that plays. It seems that the lower bitrate videos play but I haven’t tested this hypothesis yet.
The server update 1.43.0.10231 on the beta channel resolved a lot of these errors for me. If you can jump onto the beta build, it’s been more stable for me than the public build, and plays more content via chromecast with the new plex experience Android app. The old android app used to play all content, so there’s that, but at least this is better than using the browser to go to Plex website (not mobile friendly) where you could select the encoding settings when casting.
