Plex fails to cast videos to Chromecast

Player Version#: Android app used for casting 9.9.0.35519

Every time I cast anything to Chromecast, I get a Sorry, something went wrong message on the TV screen

On the Android App after retrying the message appears:
Error
An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.

The connection is local network. I can play the videos fine on the Plex app directly on the mobile or a desktop computer. This problem is of the recent few days.

If I need to put up a part of the log - which part of the log is useful?

Is there an acknowledged issue? Even if the cause is yet unknown? I assume many are still happily casting to their Chromecast or Google TV. For the last few days, I cannot cast any video to the Chromecast.

So I’m not the only, looks like the last update of Plex for Chromecast with Android tv is borked, hope they fix it soon

I hope so too.

It is software, so I expect things to “bork” from time to time. What concerns me is that there has been zero response or acknowledgement from Plex… A “we are working on it” would be good :slight_smile:
that is, if it isn’t something we can fix - in which case a point to how to do that would be great.

The silence is deafening

I’ve had this same issue for almost a year. I have been trying various work arounds for a while nothing seems to work conclusively.

I’ve tried using insecure connections which seemed to work initially but doesn’t anymore.

I now connect a different app(e.g Youtube) and then connect Plex which sometimes works. If that doesn’t work I try from another phone or from my PC.

It would be nice for this to be looked at and have a solution or even a temp fix.
