Chromecast not streaming some of the movies

Recently I ripped the Criterion Godzilla regular DVD (not blueray). using makemkv. The MKV did not play on Google Chromecast with Google TV. I get the message:

“An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.”

The streaming device is a Chromecast with Google TV hooked up to the a windows OS plex server via eithernet on both ends. I tried the same movie on a roku streaming stick client and did not encountered any issue. I could also stream on my phone without issue. What can I do to debug the issues. I also have a paid plex license. Thanks.

I am not entirely sure if that is the cause of the problem, but fiddling around with it I think I got it to work by removing HDMI pass through in audio under settings. I didn’t think that was the reason because the issue was video and not audio based, but it did apparently correct the issue.
