Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-07_17-21-22.zip (3.6 MB)

When I cast videos to my TV via Chromecast using Plex-app for Android, it randomly gets stuck on buffering. I can stop the video and resume play, but it will randomly gets stuck on buffering again, sometimes after 1 minute, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes up to like 30 minutes. I haven’t found any pattern to why or when it’s happening.

I run Plex as a Docker container on a Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS VM managed by Proxmox VE on a Intel NUC BXNUC10I7FNK2 i7-10710U with 32GB DDR4 RAM. This is my Docker setup:

services:
  plex:
    container_name: plex
    image: ghcr.io/linuxserver/plex:latest
    network_mode: host # recommended
    environment:
      - PUID=${PLEX_PUID}
      - PGID=${PLEX_PGID}
      - VERSION=docker
      # - PLEX_CLAIM= # optional
    volumes:
      - plex:/config
      - /tmp # This was a (unsuccessful) test
      - ${PLEX_TV}:/tv
      - ${PLEX_MOVIES}:/movies
    restart: unless-stopped

volumes:
  plex:

My data dirs are NFS shares from a Synology NAS.

My friend also has a Plex server, which I can stream from without any issues, so I don’t think it’s an issue with Chromecast.

I have also tried manually specifying port for remote access and forward it in my router to the Ubuntu VM, still no luck fixing the issue.

I have tried to decipher the logs but cannot find anything regarding transcode speed, which Are you having Stuttering/Buffering Issues? Look Here mentions to look for.

I really hope someone in here can help me…

Thanks in advance!

Bump. No one has experienced this or a similar issue?

Similar issue here. Remote user sees buffering on CCwGTV after playing for a while. His Roku does not buffer, and his CCwGTV does not buffer with other sources like YTTV, Netflix, etc. Another remote user sees no buffering on their smart TV. Sounds like the Plex app for CCwGTV.
