Just documenting this here to make sure someone is dealing with this.
About 60% of my movies no longer play, I have been using the plex player without any issues for a few years now playing these same movies.
Google tells me there are allot of android TV users experiencing the same thing, and the most popular fix is to turn of “enable new video player”, an option that no longer exist on my Chromecast.
I’m getting this same error playing at least 2 videos from my media server. Other videos play fine. This is only happening with one of my Chromecast. The same videos play fine from other Chromecast. I’ve tried replacing the videos with new versions with same problem. Since this is happening with Chromecast on our main TV I’ve resorted to swapping it with one that works. I have latest 8.30 version of Plex app on all Chromecast.
