I hesitate to install the latest beta (don’t ask / poster art), but I am really interested in this feature as I’ve set my main movie library and the players to play 2 trailers before each movie. My wife and I hate to see (ie. hear) non-German trailers. We are both capable of understanding the language well, but English trailers do not add anything to our common decision whether we want to watch a movie or not.
Where exactly do you set this?
Does it work on libraries using the legacy agents? (Pretty please)
Are the English trailers downloaded but not shown - or not downloaded at all?
Where do I find a how-to article on that?
It is under Settings → Extras. It is enabled by default (as many people have been complaining that trailers would not show up or too few are available when their language isn’t set to English).
It will always prioritise the native language trailers but if there are too few of those it will start mixing in English ones.
Yes, it works on both the legacy and modern libraries.
The trailers are never downloaded, it gets the URLs for them and then streams them directly when you access them.
Really great… one last question: Does it automatically remove references to English trailers from already existing movies in libraries or do you need to “update metadata”?
Cinema trailers work independently from libraries, there are no references stored for cinema trailers anywhere in the library or on the items. All URLs for these trailers are fetched when you start PMS and are kept in memory.
