Server Version#: Version 4.87.2
Player Version#: Version 4.87.2
Specifically the server is the latest: Docker
And the client is the website hosted by this image.
Enabled “Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in theaters” on the server.
Set Cinema Trailers to Play Before Movies in Settings -> Player to 2.
Signed up for plex premium
I do not have any trailers downloaded manually, because “If you’re a Plex Pass subscriber, you can have trailers automatically added to most movies.” (If there is another setting I need for this, please let me know)
Finally, I try to watch a movie using this player from this server, and see 0 movie trailers. The client is just the website hosted by the plex instance.
My understand of this setting is that it should make it so that plex automatically grabs trailers of movies in theaters and plays them before I use this player to play a movie from my server; that no manual grabbing of trailers is needed.
Also, while testing, I found that if I enable Include Cinema Trailers from movies in my library, trailers from movies within my library do indeed play- but I want trailers from upcoming movies specifically so I’ve left this disabled leading to 0 trailers playing.
Did you restart PMS after you signed up for the Plex Pass? PMS looks for available trailers on startup so without the startup, there is nothing available to show.
If it still doesn’t work, provide the PMS logs after restarting it.
Hi, I did restart the docker container running PMS multiple times since. For sharing logs, is there a way to send them privately? (I’m not sure how much personal information is in them and this forum is public).
Before I share the logs I will also:
docker stop; docker rm; the container.
docker start the container
Play a movie (this will play my 1 preroll but no movie trailers, my player is set to play 2 items; this was not working even before I had a preroll)
Your logs indicate that your server was unable to obtain the list of trailers from our server. Without this list, the server won’t be able to provide trailers when watching a movie. Are you blocking any outgoing requests from your network?
I am not blocking traffic to plex, my firewall blocks many ports but 80/443, among other ports plex uses are fine (tcp: 32400, 32469, 3005, 8324 and udp: 32400, 32410, 32412, 32413, 32414, 1900).
Just in case, I disabled my firewall, and pihole, had docker set DNS to 1.1.1.1 with 1.0.0.1 as a backup, cleared caches, restarted my entire network, then each device, docker stop, rm, to remove the container then docker up’d to create it then tried again- I waited a few hours resetting the container a few more times, and tested with multiple different players. I’m not running it behind a VPN or anything either. I am double natted behind my apartment complex’s NAT but I’ve been told they apply no firewall. I live in the US as well so I would imagine it is not my ISP either.
As far as I can tell, I am not blocking it in any capacity.
Ah nevermind, it’s not being blocked. You need to set the preferred audio language under your account settings. You currently have it set to none. There are no trailers with language of none, so we send back an error. Set the language properly, restart PMS, and it should work this time.
If you pick a language other than English, there may be fewer or no results, so try English first to make sure it’s working, then change to your preferred language if needed.
Interesting. I presently have that set to None because I prefer the movies I download to play in the audio that is their first track. For example, if I download a Marvel Movie: English. If I download an Anime: Japanese (even if it has an English track). Is it possible to maintain this and still select a preferred audio language, or is it possible to select a preferred language only for the trailers? Or are these mutually exclusive features?
It looks to be intentional. We have a ticket to review this though.
In the meantime we did add a setting so you can override your language settings for individual shows. so you can set your main language to English and your anime shows to Japanese.
Thanks. I do hope there is an option for ‘Trailer Language’ added in the future.
In the meantime, where is this setting? I don’t see it in Language settings. I do see there is a Language option per-library, but there is no None option like in the global settings (which I prefer to use as I prefer it to just play the default track). I don’t see any language options at the show level; nor any option at the season level.
