Cleanup after successful migration

About a year ago I successfully migrated my Plex server from DSM 6 to DSM 7. It’s still running fine under DSM 7. My question is, I have a lot of old Plex files on my server, and I’m trying to clean up and get rid of duplicates. Can anyone tell me what file I need to have on my server, and which ones I can get rid of?

On NAS running DSM 7, Plex Media Server no longer uses the Plex shared folder or the Plex username. Both can be removed from your system unless you are using them for other purposes.

I appreciate your reply but I just want to sure I get the right ones. In my root list I have 2 shared folders, Plex and PlexMediaServer. Both of those have files, but none of my Plex media (movies, etc). Under the shared folder Homes I have 2 subfolders: Plex and Plex Media. The Plex Media folder contains my movies, etc. So, you are saying I only need these two folders and I can delete the two root folders, correct?

Incorrect.

Clarification: This applies to native installations. It does not apply to Plex installations using Docker or Virtual Machines.

Do not delete the PlexMediaServer shared folder. It holds the Plex database and other important files. Deleting it will delete your Plex server.

You can delete the Plex shared folder. It was used by Plex when running DSM 6. It is not used when running DSM 7.

/Homes/Plex is not used by Plex Media Server. No idea of its contents. Who created it, etc.
